Dr. esthé Hyal- Moisture Solution Ampoule laying on a dried palm leaf

If you’ve been reading about skincare lately, you’ve probably seen the word ampoule. Maybe you’ve seen the single-use vials in sets or the larger bottles with droppers. They usually look quite unique. But you know what I haven’t seen so far? A good definition of what ampoules are! In this blog post, I’m going to break it all down for you. Let’s learn!

Ampoules: High Concentration Skincare

An ampoule (sometimes spelled ampule or ampul) is a hyper-focused skincare product with a very high concentration of its primary ingredient. When I say “very high”, I mean it! It’s normal for the first ingredient of an ampoule to sit at 80-90% of the formula. Subpar formulas will lack this concentration or focus. Ampoules are all business, no filler. If you see water as the first ingredient, you’re just looking at a serum with good marketing. Look for a lot of active ingredients and not much else.

What’s more, most ampoules should absorb into the skin with ease. Considering both of these traits, ampoules are great at addressing specific skin concerns. So, they’re basically a super-powered, super-absorbable type of serum.

Unsurprisingly, they gained popularity in the Korean beauty (A.K.A., K-Beauty)  world over the past few years. Korean skincare tends to be advanced and on the cutting edge of modern science. Lately, Korea’s skincare trends have become even more popular around the world. As time passes, I find myself using more and more Korean skincare products as well.

What’s With The Name?

Yes, the name is a little odd. The name literally refers to the sealed glass vials they often come in. Since they are so concentrated, it makes sense to pack a tiny amount into an airtight glass. Then you use them only when needed without losing freshness. However, dropper bottles have become a much more common way to store them lately. To be honest, I prefer this style, as they are less wasteful.

Why Should I Use Ampoules?

Ampoules are the perfect way to add a powerful effect to your skincare regimen. There are two ways you can approach using ampoules – first, you can add them as short-term super solutions. A great example of this would be using Le Mieux’s Stem Cell EGF Ampoules to minimize wrinkles and fine lines. You would only use these tiny vials for a short time, but they deliver huge results. Second, it’s also a good way to address a constant need. Consider someone with a dry skin type who desperately needs moisturizing skincare. In this case, Dr. esthé Hyal- Moisture Solution Ampoule would be a fabulous way to boost their skincare routine.

What Effects Can Ampoules Have?

Since they are like stronger serums, you can find all the same effects in ampoules. Need help hydrating your skin? Trying to boost anti-aging? Want help with hyper-pigmentation, brightening skin tone, or dark spots? Indeed, there’s an ampoule for every need. That being said, any ampoule you use should help you fulfill your skin needs or goals! Otherwise, what’s the point?

How To Use Ampoules

Here are some tips & tricks to get the most out of your ampoules!

1) Cleanse First!

By using cleanser and toner first, you prep your skin to absorb all the potent goodies in your ampoule! Any dirt or grime on your face is just getting in the way. Toning is optional, but cleansing is a must!

2) Use Ampoules Before Serums, Moisturizers, Creams, or Lotions

Serums, moisturizers, creams, and lotions are all too heavy to apply before ampoules. As a result, your expensive, powerful ampoule might just sit on top of other products.

3) Gently Massage & Pat It Into Your Skin

If you just quickly rub your ampoule onto your skin, it’ll work fine. But want it to do the most it can for you? Gently, but vigorously massage it into your skin. Then lightly pat all of the skin you massaged it into. This will raise your blood flow and warm your skin up. By doing so, you’re making it more receptive to all the goodies you just gave it.

Ampoules We Carry At Art of Skin Care

For a while, we’ve carried a very limited selection of these exciting skincare products, but that changed a while ago. Say hello to our new line-up of Dr. esthé Ampoules! I’ve already been using several Dr. esthé products for a while and absolutely adore them. I’ll admit, I had no idea what to expect from their new line at first. However, now that we’ve had them around for a while, I can’t imagine not having these fabulous products anymore.

Dr. esthé Hyal- Moisture Solution Ampoule

When we got a bottle of the Dr. esthé Hyal- Moisture Solution Ampoule, it floored us. Without reservation, I can say this is my favorite skincare product for quickly plumping and hydrating skin. Basically, this ampoule is a super-powered blend of rose water, six forms of hyaluronic acid, and goat milk. Everyone in the office had to try it out.

First, we all noticed the pleasant, soothing scent of the may rose water. Sometimes rose aromas can be a bit off-putting and unpleasant. Instead, this ampoule has a relaxing and gentle scent of rose. It lingers on your skin, but only for a while. Somehow, it won over a few folks in the office who typically dislike them.

Second, we found the texture remarkable. Although it seems like gel at first, it’s more slick and thin. For that reason, it spreads over skin with ease. As a result, your skin can drink this serum up fast.

Finally, it hydrates skin immediately. Once dry skin feels and looks significantly more firm, supple, and relaxed. Several people at Art of Skin Care have been fighting dry skin and this ampoule has helped a great deal.

Dr. esthé Azulene Relief Solution Ampoule

Next up is a game-changer for folks with sensitive or acne-prone skin. It’s relaxing tea-time for your skin. This one is a potent blend of green tea water, azulene, gesolza, and goat milk extract. This trio calms inflamed skin and helps control sebum levels. What more, it comes loaded with Vitamin C, A, and B. As a result, this ampoule both soothes and prevents breakouts beautifully.

Azulene might not sound familiar to you, but it comes from a common herb. Ever have a nice, calming cup of chamomile tea? Yup, azulene comes from chamomile! I’m not joking when I say “relaxing tea-time” to describe this ampoule.

Celine took our whole sample bottle home and probably won’t give it up. When we talked about it recently, she said it really did a fantastic job calming small breakouts and blemishes. In light of this, I think this one is best for sensitive skin and managing minor breakouts. It’s a great example of an ampoule you might not need every day, but use when your skin needs some help.

Dr. esthé M.G.F. Renewal Solution Ampoule

Okay, hear me out. Snail mucin is very good for your skin. Yes, it sounds a little gross or weird, but it works overtime for healing and rejuvenating skin. Dr. esthé M.G.F. Renewal Solution is 88% snail mucin. Beyond that, they added a blend of goat milk extract and nine peptides for even more healing and anti-aging effects. I have to say, this is the one I am most excited about.

This formula would be fantastic without the peptides, but they just take it over the top. The snail secretion filtrate acts as a natural growth factor on its own, so it’s already helping with collagen production and fibroblast repair. Personally, I’m looking to use this ampoule along with my Time Master Pro for even more plumping.

Dr. esthé Vita-C Radiance Solution Ampoule

Last, but certainly not least, is Dr. esthé’s Vitamin C-packed ampoule. This one is essentially a nice multi-vitamin for your skin. The basis for this one is ultra-potent lemon water at a 72% concentration. With plenty of Vitamin C, Panthenol (Vitamin B5), and Niacinamide (Vitamin B3), it’s not only great at brightening skin, but it’s also nourishing! In essence, it’s a super-powered, skin tone-leveling vitamin C serum!

Like all of the other Dr. esthé ampoules, it applies with absolute ease and feels very soothing on your skin. I think this one will pair nicely with plenty of other serums and slot into almost anyone’s routine with ease. This formula is simple but highly effective and concentrated.

Ampoules: The Final Verdict

In summary, ampoules are high concentration solutions that your skin can absorb quickly. High-quality ampoules should not have fillers or subpar actives. As a result, ampoules can greatly help people reach their skin goals.

That being said, ampoules are optional. However, they are possibly the most fabulous and powerful option I’ve seen in a while. I’m beyond excited to offer Dr. esthés cutting-edge ampoules to you all. As always, feel free to reach out to us in our live chat or in the comments. Until next time 🙂
