Whether you’re a veteran with your microcurrent device or you just ordered your new TriWave, today’s blog will help you become an expert! Microcurrent technology is a powerful addition to any skincare routine, and in order to see the best results, it’s important to be fully educated on your device. Alongside high-quality skincare products, there are many ways to customize your at-home treatment, and I’ll be covering some of them in this blog. Let’s dive in!

Conductive Gels

As I mentioned, there are plenty of ways to boost your microcurrent device and enhance the results of your treatments; the most important being high-quality skincare products. Microcurrent technology drives ingredients deeper into the skin, which is why it’s essential to utilize ingredients that will best address your skin concerns. After all, what’s the point of investing in such an advanced tool if you’re pairing it with a conductive gel that’s mediocre at best? Here are a few of my favorite products to pair with the TriWave.

  • NeoGenesis Glide Gel: NeoGenesis formulas are known for their thoughtful ingredient deck and luxurious feel, and this gel is no different. Safe for all skin types, this soothing conductor provides plenty of slip for your device and layers perfectly under your other products without pilling.
  • HOP+ PLLA Promoter Collagen Gel: This formula is packed with some of the most transformative ingredients, like Poly-L-Lactic acid, that help plump the skin and boost collagen production. Epidermal growth factors stimulate cell regeneration and healing, helping to improve the look of fine lines and wrinkles. If you’re looking for an overachiever, this is the perfect conductive gel.
  • Le Mieux O2 Calming Gel: This gel comes with an affordable price tag and a long resume. Not only is this soothing gel an excellent conductor, it’s also great for calming, soothing, and hydrating dry or irritated skin. Hyaluronic acid, green tea extract, allantoin, and goldenseal extract are just a few of the nourishing ingredients packed in to this gel hydrator.

Pro Tip: Mist Le Mieux ISO Cell Recovery Solution on your skin throughout treatment to help maintain slip for your device!

The Dos

Alright, now that we have some high quality ingredients picked out, let’s dive in to the ways you can support your treatment for the best results! Here are a few of my favorite microcurrent dos.

  • Do microcurrent before you do a peel. It will aid in the healing process due to the increased storage of ATP.
  • Do microcurrent before deeper or more aggressive needling to aid in healing.
  • Do microcurrent after Nano Infusion or light microneedling to help drive penetration.
  • Do use LED light therapy before or after your microcurrent.
  • Do LED light therapy before TriWave Educate to warm muscles; the muscles will respond better when firming/shortening the muscle.
  • Do microcurrent using TriWave Rejuv after Radio Frequency (RF) to calm the skin.
  • Do microcurrent using TriWave Rejuv before and after surgery to increase ATP, speed healing, and reduce scar tissue. Rejuv will decrease post-surgical inflammation and reduce scarring.
  • Do consult your physician if you are pregnant.
  • Do – Braces, metal pins and plates, and metal implants are safe with microcurrent.

 The Don’ts

While microcurrent is a completely safe and effective way to address many concerns, there are a few things to keep in mind. First and foremost, when implementing a new skincare device to your routine, always consult your doctor first. Keep in mind, everyone will have a different experience, and what might work for others may not be the best solution for you. If any of the following apply to you, I recommend finding an alternative at-home treatment.

  • Don’t do microcurrent immediately after injections. Wait two weeks after injections. Rejuv increases detoxification and will counteract botox.
  • Don’t use microcurrent if you have a pacemaker or any type of heart condition. Check with your doctor first.
  • Don’t use microcurrent with a cochlear ear implant.
  • Don’t use microcurrent with active cancer.
  • Don’t use microcurrent with epilepsy.
